Cilantro Park, nestled in Stocklandโs Calleya Estate in Banjup, is a fantastic local Playground that offers a good mix of active play, nature play and space to run around. Previously known as Calleya Playground, this park continues to be a popular spot with families thanks to its variety of equipment and large open grassed area.

The main play structure features two slides: a very high twisty slide that will appeal to more adventurous kids, and a smaller hill slide ideal for younger ones or those still building confidence. Kids can climb, explore and race each other down the different slide options, which helps keep visits interesting for a wide range of ages.

One of the big drawcards at Cilantro Park is the pair of in-ground trampolines. These are always a hit, giving children a safe, bouncy spot to burn off energy without the worry of high falls.

Swings are covered too, with two separate sets. There are traditional seated swings in the main play area, plus a separate tripod-style swing located slightly behind the main Playground. Having the larger swing set away from the busiest section is a thoughtful design feature that helps minimise collisions and gives older kids a bit more room to swing high without worrying about knocking into toddlers.

Nature play elements are dotted through the space. Logs bordering a small native flora garden create a simple balance trail where kids can test their coordination while engaging with the natural environment. Itโs a nice contrast to the more traditional Playground equipment and encourages imaginative play โ the logs can quickly become pirate ship planks or jungle paths in a childโs game.

Cilantro Park also has a fun musical and sensory play theme. Thereโs a frog drum and a quirky horn praying mantis that invite kids to bang, blow and make plenty of noise. Younger children especially will love experimenting with sounds and rhythms.

Two little bee see-saws, two drum sets and a mini roundabout round out the equipment, offering plenty of options for both solo and cooperative play.

For families planning a longer stay, there are two free gas barbecues and four picnic tables under cover. This makes the park a good choice for casual weekend meet-ups, birthday sausage sizzles or an easy after-school play and dinner outside when the weather is nice. The covered area offers some relief from the sun while you keep an eye on the Playground.

Active kids are well catered for beyond the main play space too. Thereโs a netball/basketball area (check on your visit if the hoop is currently installed), as well as scooter and bike paths around the park. A large grass area with a fun embankment is perfect for rolling races, ball games and general running around. Itโs the kind of space where kids can really stretch their legs and play the way they want to.

Park amenities include a water drinking fountain and bike racks, which makes riding down from nearby streets very convenient. However, there are currently no toilets at the park, so itโs best to plan ahead and factor this in, especially with younger children. The closest shops are in the Cockburn Central South area (around the Bunnings and The Good Guys precinct), where youโll find facilities, food and supplies if you need them.
Shade can be limited over the play equipment at times, so a hat, sunscreen and water bottles are essential, particularly in warmer months. Trees and structures may offer some relief depending on the time of day, but itโs worth planning earlier morning or later afternoon visits on very hot days.
Overall, Cilantro Park is a well-designed community Playground that combines traditional equipment, unique features like in-ground trampolines, and open green space. Itโs a great local spot for families in Banjup and surrounding suburbs, whether youโre popping in for a quick play or settling in for a relaxed barbecue catch-up.
