Calista Bike Skills Track Playground is a brilliant spot for scooter and bike-mad kids, purpose-built to help little riders learn road rules in a fun, low-stress way. Opened in 2023 and set amongst shady trees at Calista Oval, the track sits right next to Kwinana Adventure Playground and The Edge Skate Park, making this area a fantastic all-day destination for families.
The bike skills track is laid out like a mini road network with smooth flat paths. Kids can follow roundabouts, negotiate speed bumps, stop at traffic lights and stop signs, and practise giving way at pedestrian crossings.
There are plenty of road markings and signs to help children understand real-world traffic situations, all in a safe, car-free environment.
Little ones will love the imaginative touches too, including the cutest mini petrol/charging station where they can “fill up” their bike or scooter between laps.
Next to the track you’ll find a compact parkour-style area for kids who like to climb and jump, plus a basketball hoop for those needing a break from riding. There’s also a handy bike repair station on site, perfect for pumping tyres or making quick adjustments if something goes wrong mid-ride.
The Playground area itself does not have toilets, but the well-equipped Kwinana Adventure Park amenities are just a short walk away, including family-friendly toilets and a water play zone. The bike track benefits from natural shade thanks to the surrounding mature trees, but it’s still wise to pack hats, sunscreen and plenty of water.
On warm days, bring bathers and a towel if you plan to wander over to the adventure park’s splash area afterwards.
You can easily spend a few hours here moving between the bike track, the adventure Playground and the skate park. If you forget snacks or need extra supplies, Kwinana Marketplace is just across the road, and in summer there’s often an ice-cream van parked on the oval, which is perfect for a post-ride treat. With free entry, a strong focus on safety and skills, and loads of variety within a small area, Calista Bike Skills Track Playground is an excellent choice for families with toddlers through to primary-aged kids who are building confidence on two (or three) wheels.
