Set right next to the iconic Busselton Jetty on the sparkling shores of Geographe Bay, the Busselton Foreshore Adventure Play Space is a mustโvisit stop for families exploring the South West. This impressive oceanโthemed Playground brings Busseltonโs maritime history to life with a giant wooden clipper ship, leaping whale, and a bright orange Kraken, all set against lush grass and shady pines. Itโs a brilliant spot to break up a road trip, or spend a few relaxed hours by the water while the kids burn off energy.

The centrepiece of the play space is the enormous โcapsizingโ ship perched on a decked wave. Kids can scramble up rope nets to the crowโs nest lookout for a birdโs-eye view of the foreshore, ring the shipโs bell, steer with the large wooden wheel and fire the cannon as they imagine sailing to safety.

Thereโs plenty of scope for role play, from pirate battles to rescue missions, and multiple levels to explore both above and below deck. The huge blue whale appears to swim under the ship, with its head on one side and tail on the other, and the whaleโs head cleverly doubles as a cosy cubby for a quiet chat or a moment of calm.

You canโt miss the towering orange Kraken at the jetty end of the Playground. This giant squid is as much a climbing structure as it is a piece of public art, with tentacles to clamber over and around, and soft sand beneath for safer landings.

Surrounding the ship is a challenging pole course that invites kids to balance, hop and test their agility, as well as large rocks to scramble across. A birdโs nest swing set in the sand caters for a wide range of ages and abilities, making it easy for siblings to play together.

Water play is a big part of the fun at Busselton Foreshore, so itโs well worth packing bathers and a change of clothes. The striking whale-tail shower is a magnet for kids keen to cool down on a warm day, sending refreshing sprays of water into the play area.

With Geographe Bayโs calm, clear water just a few steps away, itโs easy to move between a play on the equipment and a dip in the ocean. Families often spread out on the grass under the mature pine trees, which provide welcome shade and a natural spot to throw down a picnic rug.

The Playgroundโs foreshore location means there are handy facilities and food options close by. Public toilets are conveniently located nearby, and there are two kiosks within easy walking distance for coffee, snacks and ice creams. Whether youโre staying in Busselton or just stopping through on your way further south, the play space is an ideal place to stretch little legs, recharge and soak up the coastal atmosphere.
As part of the wider Busselton Foreshore redevelopment, the adventure play space sits alongside a large amphitheatre area with expansive grassed terraces designed for events and openโair performances. This gives the precinct a vibrant, community feel, particularly during school holidays and special events when families gather for shows or live entertainment before or after a play.

Busselton Foreshore is especially lovely in the early evening, when the ship and surrounding features are lit up, creating a magical backdrop for a sunset play. With the jetty lights twinkling and the bay just metres away, itโs a fantastic spot for a postโdinner run around on a summer night. Easy access, level paths and open sightlines make it simple for parents and carers to supervise, while still giving kids the freedom to explore.
The Busselton Foreshore Adventure Play Space offers the perfect mix of imaginative play, physical challenge and coastal relaxation. With its creative design, convenient facilities and unbeatable beachfront position, itโs a standout Playground in the South West and a place most families will want to visit more than once on their Busselton holiday.
