Aviary Creek Park is a fun and creative play space in the growing suburb of Aveley. The one-of-a-kind playground has been built around two natural lakes and the main feature is a giant water wheel with twisting tunnel slides!
The water wheel is split into two levels, the first level has a blue slide and wooden bridge that leads to a ladder back down to ground level. The second level has a yellow slide and offers great views of the park. The giant water wheel is easy and safe to climb, my adventurous 2 year old who loves to climb made his way to the top with assistance – the climbing space is big enough for adults to easily navigate.
There is a second climbing structure with a smaller tunnel side, perfect for smaller kids! On ground level, there is a double toddler slide – my 1 and 2 year olds had a ball sliding down together.
Rain or shine kids seem to gravitate towards water! The water play area is great for kids of all sizes featuring two hand pumps, troughs and a spinner. The water play area is in the sandpit, so definitely bring a change of clothes!
Other equipment at in the sandpit includes a digger, sand play, logs, concrete circles, a concrete tunnel, and stepping logs. There is plenty of seating overlooking the sandpit, the area is also covered by shade sails.
There are two swings, one traditional swing and one toddler swing.
A dragon snake swing big enough for about 8 kids.
There is also a bocce court and plenty of grass to run around on.
Bring your bike or scooter to Aviary Creek Park as there are pathways around the lakes and parkland. Over the bridge, there is also a footy goal.
Other facilities at Aviary Creek include sheltered seating, BBQs, a drinking fountain and bike racks. There are no toilet facilities, toilet facilities have been included in the plans however they have not been built in the first phase of construction, they will be developed later, if required.
You have never seen a playground like Aviary Creek! Make sure you add it to your ‘to do list’!
