Looking for a calm beach spot for kids to play in Mandurah? The Lido, also known as Marina South Harbour Beach and the Children’s Beach, is found next to Keith Holmes Reserve. It’s an ideal place for a family get-together or picnic, with plenty of facilities and being right by the marina at Mandurah’s Dolphin Quay.
The protected waters are shallow and calm at The Lido. Its accessibility is what makes it a brilliant spot for a splash for all. From the footpath, there are pathways through the sand directly into the water, and to the shade structures, making getting onto the sand easier for those with prams and wheelchairs.
There are three shade structures on the sand, plus three on the grassed area between the beach and Dolphin Quay. These seemed very popular with gatherings and birthday parties.
This man-made beach is perfect for tiny tots, as there are minimal waves. There’s hardly any seaweed either. Big kids will like to make use of the beach volleyball net.
Showers and toilets are found at Keith Holmes Reserve.
Keith Holmes Reserve has a fun ship play structure, a playground, BBQs and parking, making it perfect for a post-swim picnic.
Short on time to BYO lunch? There are plenty of casual dining options in the area. Sharkey’s, found just over the pedestrian bridge at Dolphin Quay, is a top spot for yummy fish and chips. Plus it has a kids playground. See our review.
Be sure to bring a bucket and spade, to dig in the sand. Lido Beach is loads of fun for all – the young and the young at heart.
