Coco the Cockatoo Discovers Wanneroo is a beautifully illustrated children’s storybook that follows the adventures of Coco, a curious Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo (Ngoolark), as she explores some of the City of Wanneroo’s best-loved attractions.
Designed for children aged 6–10 years, the story takes young readers on a journey to places including Yanchep National Park, King Neptune at Two Rocks, the Alkimos Shipwreck, Wanneroo Botanic Gardens, Marina Mindarie and more. Along the way, families will discover fascinating local stories while learning about the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo and how everyone can help protect this iconic Western Australian species.
But the adventure doesn’t end with the final page!
The dedicated Coco webpage is packed with free family activities including colouring sheets, puzzles, activity downloads, an online version of the book, an audio narration, printable adventure passport and map to help families visit each location featured in the story.
Families can also request a FREE printed copy of the book (while stocks last) and collect it from participating City of Wanneroo libraries, the Yanchep National Park Visitor Centre or The Marina Mindarie.
Whether you’re planning a school holiday outing, a weekend road trip or simply looking for new places to explore close to Perth, Coco’s adventure is the perfect inspiration to get the kids outdoors and discovering everything Wanneroo has to offer.
