The Little Home on Honey – The Bee’s Knees!

Little Home on Honey is the bees-knees! Our family fancied a local staycation with a 16-month-old, so we booked seven nights at this adorable family-friendly AirBnB in Forestdale. It’s just 30 minutes from the City and the rolling Hills, a quick and easy getaway if you need a change in pace.

The space is set across five and a half acres of tree-lined acres, with a guesthouse and main property shared on the same site. The hosts are a lovely family of five who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and were always happy to share some wisdom about the property and the local area.

My little boy was over the moon when he realised there was a plethora of “wheely” toys shared outside, including a digger and toddler car. It was a kind, added touch.

The Cottage has 2 good-sized bedrooms, a big lounge, kitchen and bathroom. There is also a large driveway outside with ample parking.

On the opposite side of the Cottage, a cosy veranda which overlooks the meandering garden, as far as the eye can see. Perched on the veranda is a washer and dryer – an absolute must-have for any mucky pups (or adults!) when on a trip.

The kitchen and lounge allow plenty of space for small and large families, and streaming services are also available on the TV. We were also gifted a little fruit platter and chocolates in the fridge, which was a lovely added touch from the Hosts.

There is so much to explore in the garden and lots of added bonuses, which makes this place a children’s dream. We explored the climbing frames once we finally managed to distract our bub from pushing the toddler car(s) for the umpteenth time.

Little Home on Honey has two substantial “climbing frame” areas – one is a big, solid wooden infrastructure with swings, a look out and a mighty slide. The other is similar to a “Ninja Warrior” set-up with monkey bars, nets and swings. Plenty of space and time to practise their best warrior skills! If you’ve got smaller children (like mine) there is a very cute, smaller cubby house with a slide and also a little boat to practise any climbing in the same area.

A gated swimming pool is a very welcomed attraction to the property. It’s a good size with seating (deck chairs) around the outside for some important R&R for Queen-Bee and Hub-Bee. We visited in March, and it was still a comfortable temperature for a daily swim.

My boy loved spying the local wildlife and we spent several hours spotting bandicoots in the early evening, alongside plenty of plane spotting. If you enjoy getting back to nature and having an adventure in your garden, this is the place to be!

There is also lots to do closeby, including Cockburn Shopping Precinct, Bibra Lake and AdventureWorld.

Check it out for yourself over at AirBnB where you can also read some more rave reviews! It’s just meant to bee…
