
NAIDOC Week Aboriginal Basket Weaving Workshop

Learn how to make a coiled basket with Aboriginal weaver Emma-Jane Hunt. Using wool and raffia you’ll learn this traditional basket weaving technique with a contemporary twist. Suitable for people ages 10+.
Emma-Jane Hunt is a Yindjibarndi and Djaru woman with both traditional and ancestral links to both the Pilbara and Kimberly regions of Western Australia. Taught to weave when living in the East Pilbara by Martu Weavers from the Western Desert 15 years ago, Emma-Jane is passionate about keeping weaving as a cultural practice alive.
