Does your child sometimes get overwhelmed by big feelings, or do you wish they understood why they feel the way they do? Our “My Amazing Brain” workshop, designed for children aged 6-12, offers a fascinating and empowering exploration of emotional intelligence.

This isn’t a boring lecture! We believe in hands-on, creative fun. Kids will embark on a captivating journey to understand how their brain works and how it makes feelings. The core of this workshop involves them designing and building their very own “Brain House” using a variety of loose parts, air-dry clay for modelling, and printing techniques. This powerful visual reminder will help them grasp complex concepts in a tangible, memorable way.

Crucially, while building their Brain House, children will learn practical strategies on how to engage their “thinking brain” when their “feelers” (emotions) take over. This equips them with vital skills to manage big feelings, problem-solve, and respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. It’s a morning of immersive, creative construction that develops essential resilience and self-awareness.

NOTE: This workshop is a part of our Mistake Maker Camp. These are based on the incursions we have been running in schools for years. The camp is offered as four stand alone half day workshops at $80 a session. Please note, The Maker Space is a secure tenancy in Floreat Forum. Doors will be secured and children will be supervised at all times. Children will be escorted to a toilet by our staff with access to an ambulant toilet (one person access at a time) which our staff will wait on the outside of the door.
