First Chapters is a gentle, welcoming weekly program designed for parents, carers and their babies (0 – 12 months). Whether you’re a first-time parent or adding to your family, this is a space to connect with others, access trusted information, share experiences and build confidence through your baby’s first year.

Each week explores a different topic relevant to parenting and early childhood development. Sessions alternate between expert-led presentations and our relaxed Rhyme & Play sessions, where parents and carers can connect with one another while engaging with your baby in songs, stories and age-appropriate play.

Each free ticket includes 1 parent/carer and 1 baby.

Rhyme & Play: Wednesday 21 October
Meet other local parents and carers in a relaxed social setting while your baby enjoys songs, stories, rhymes, sensory activities and play. These sessions provide opportunities to build connections, share experiences and support your baby’s early development.

Tiny Teeth, Big Smiles: Wednesday 28 October
Join Cassandra from Bright Now and learn how to give your baby the best start to a lifetime of healthy teeth. This informative session covers early oral health, caring for first teeth, establishing healthy habits, and supporting strong, healthy smiles.

Rhyme & Play: Wednesday 4 November
A welcoming opportunity to connect with other families while babies explore, play and engage with stories, songs and rhymes in a supportive environment.

Baby Chatter: Wednesday 11 November
Discover ways to support your baby’s communication development and learn practical strategies to encourage early language, interaction and confidence through everyday conversations, stories, songs and play.

Rhyme & Play: Wednesday 18 November
Enjoy a relaxed morning of connection and conversation with other parents and carers while babies participate in play-based learning experiences.

Keeping Kids Safe: Wednesday 25 November
Gain confidence in keeping your little one safe as they grow and explore. Learn practical tips for safety at home, during play and on the go, along with ways to support your wellbeing during the antenatal and postnatal period.

Rhyme & Play: Wednesday 2 December
Connect, share and unwind with other families while your baby enjoys a variety of songs, stories, sensory activities and opportunities for exploration.

Baby Signing with Signing Hands: Wednesday 9 December
Learn simple signs to support early communication and help your baby express their needs, feelings and interests before they can talk. Discover practical techniques to strengthen connection and reduce frustration.

Rhyme & Play: Wednesday 16 December
Celebrate the end of the year with songs, stories, play and conversation. Join us for a relaxed final session and connect with the families you’ve met throughout the term.
