Busting the Myth of the Mad Scientist @ AH Bracks Library + Creative Space
Say what? Scientists = Madness? Maybe, maybe not. Join award-winning scientist and lecturer Dr Rina Fu for an interactive time of myth-busting with Q & A and sharing of her real-world research tackling a global health problem through her original song and storybook ‘My Mad Scientist Mummy’. Dr Rina is looking for bright minds to assist her with some experimental procedures that may involve growing blood cells and parasites…
This workshop is suitable for children aged 8+ years.
Please be advised that children under the age of 13 years are to be accompanied by an adult at this activity.

About Dr Rina:
Dr Rina is a writer, artist, award-winning scientist and lecturer who brings science to life through songs, crafts, animations and fun workshops. Her animated series MicroToons won eight international awards and highlighted talented autistic creators from WA. A regular guest on radio Dr Rina has recently received the 2025 Bridget Ogilvie Medal, the ASM Cheryl Power Educator Award, and is the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards STEM Educator of the Year (Tertiary).
Rina teaches across two universities, and studies viruses, parasites, bacteria and even crocodile collagen. She is passionate about inspiring curious young minds and she loves sushi and parasites… just not together.
