The Albany Wind Farm is an impressive sight featuring 18 massive wind turbines perched dramatically on the coastal cliffs. This eco-friendly attraction offers families a fascinating glimpse into renewable energy while providing spectacular ocean views across the Southern Ocean. Kids will be amazed by the sheer size of these gentle giants as they spin gracefully in the wind.
Stand-Out Feature:
The 1km boardwalk connecting the turbines is the star attraction – it’s fully accessible for strollers and offers incredible whale watching opportunities during migration season (June-October). The interactive information boards along the way make learning about wind energy fun and engaging for children.
Top Tip:
Visit during the late afternoon to catch a spectacular sunset, but bring warm jackets as it can get quite windy! The parking area is an excellent spot for a picnic, and don’t forget your camera – the contrast between the white turbines and blue ocean makes for stunning family photos.

A great spot to take the kids for a wonder. There’s some easy trails around and you can even get right up close and touch a windmill.
Windy of course but the views are also worth the trip.
Free to enter and plenty of parking available.
