Ned Buckley Podiatry has a special interest in children’s podiatry and provides diagnosis, treatment and management of problems of the foot and ankle in infants and children.
Whether it is a baby’s first steps or a teenager’s winning AFL goal, healthy feet and sure-footedness make milestones in a child’s life possible. Starting at birth, paying close attention to your children’s feet from proper grooming to gait will ensure a solid foundation as your child grows.
As podiatrists, we are uniquely qualified among medical professionals to treat the complex structure of the foot and ankle, based on our education, training, and experience. We can provide guidance for keeping children’s feet healthy at all developmental stages, and treat any injuries or abnormalities.
Some of the common conditions we see in children include:
– In-toeing (pigeon toeing)
– Flat foot
– Ingrown nails
– Warts
– Heel pain (Sever’s Disease)
– Knee pain (Osgood Schlatter’s disease)
– Juvenile arthritis
– Toe walking
– Knock knees
– Clumsiness
Management of these conditions may include soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, footwear suggestions and often simple reassurance that a child is functioning within the normal ranges for their age. Custom orthotics are also an option that may be appropriate in certain situations.
