Hawker Playground in Warwick is a lovely little neighbourhood park thatโs a great stop for local families with kindy and primary school-aged kids, as well as confident toddlers. Tucked along Hawker Avenue in the northern suburbs, it offers a good mix of climbing, sliding, and open space for ball games, all in a quiet, community setting.

The main sand-fall Playground centres around a fort-like metal play structure thatโs perfect for kids who love to climb and imagine. Thereโs a steering wheel for little drivers, a ladder and climbing wall, sloping climbing ropes, a bridge to scramble across, a โshop frontโ for pretend play, and a slide. The different climbing elements are ideal for building confidence and coordination in kindy and primary school children, and thereโs enough variety to keep them looping around the structure again and again.

No Playground feels complete without swings, and Hawker Playground includes a small swing set with one regular swing and one baby/toddler swing. Itโs a nice mix for families with siblings of different ages, and the sand base underfoot adds that extra layer of soft landing.

One of the highlights here is the metal slide built into a soft-fall slope. Kids can climb up the slope or the rocks and then whoosh down a slide thatโs noticeably quicker than the smaller plastic one. Itโs just wide enough for two smaller children to ride side by side, which is always exciting for friends or siblings keen to race each other down.

There are a few cute themed touches that help spark imaginative play. A large green log doubles as a crocodile, so kids can hop over its โbackโ or pretend to tiptoe past without being snapped up.

Nearby, a bouncy green car is perfect for toddlers and younger kids who love to bounce, rock, and pretend theyโre off on an adventure.

Beyond the play equipment, Hawker Park is also home to a large grassed oval, giving families loads of space to run, practise ball skills, or have a casual kick of the footy into the AFL goals. This makes it a good choice if youโve got energetic kids who want more than just Playground equipment.

Youโll also find a basketball half-court, which is handy for older kids or for parents and children to shoot a few hoops together.

Facilities are simple but thoughtful for family visits. A covered picnic table sits right by the play area, providing a shaded spot to sit with snacks or a takeaway coffee while keeping an eye on the kids. Thereโs also a water fountain close by, so you donโt have to remember to pack extra water bottles in warmer weather. Parking is easy, with a large on-site car park just a short walk from the Playground.

For families in the midst of toilet training, the park is particularly convenient โ public toilets are available on site and are open daily between 6am and 8pm. This makes Hawker Playground a more stress-free choice for longer play sessions or spontaneous visits when youโre out and about.
When we visited in the morning, the play area was partially shaded by surrounding trees, which helps on sunny days, although itโs still worth bringing hats and sunscreen. The park had a peaceful, local feel, with dog walkers passing through and kids having a kick on the oval. Itโs not a huge destination Playground, but thatโs part of its charm โ Hawker Playground is a small, quiet park thatโs ideal for a relaxed play, a scooter ride, or some fresh air after school.
If youโre in Warwick or nearby suburbs and looking for a friendly, low-key spot where kids can climb, slide, and run, Hawker Playground is well worth a visit.
