Being only a couple of minutes’ drive off Indian Ocean Drive makes Ledge Point a great little stopover, either for a 5 minute break or a couple of days.
Ledge Point is 1hr 25mins north of the Perth CBD. The town is well known for its beaches and fishing but the park is also a great place to stretch your legs on a road trip.
Situated just behind the local tennis courts the playground has recently undergone a renovation. This shady park has something for all the kids. Being set back a few streets off the coast and in a slight hollow means it’s a less windy option than the beach.
We visited the park during a weekday and had it all to ourselves. The playground is sandwiched between the tennis courts, basketball court and the large sports oval. The basketball court has been converted to a skate park with several ramps placed in the centre.
Alongside the sports oval are some cricket nets and a public toilet block.
The playground has a large double zip-line which has one harnessed seat.
The swings also have a baby seat and a normal seat.
My kids loved the large geometrical climbing frame. At the very top is a net landing with entry to the tunnel slide, it even has a window halfway down!
This would be a bit tricky for toddlers to negotiate so luckily there is a dedicated toddler section next to it which features a small slide.
Both kids and toddlers can enjoy the huge basket swing alongside these.
For the grown-ups there is an extensive array of fitness equipment including a cross trainer, bike, and chess press machine.
Keep a lookout for the awesome climbing tree next to the workout area!
In the centre of the playground is a cute gazebo for picnics.
Shaded parking is available by following the track that runs along the north side of the courts on Jones Street. We really recommend this little gem of a park!
