There’s a good reason to get outside in Rivervale with stage 2 of the Wilson Park Precinct Plan now completed. You don’t want to miss this EPIC new playground and upgraded community spaces, made possible only through joint funding from the City of Belmont, the Federal Government, and the State Government through Lotterywest. This revitalised park now has a modern pump track with a dedicated skate zone, nature-inspired play equipment and a sensory play zone for children of all abilities and ages, wheelchair-friendly pathways and inviting community spaces for families to come together.

The highlight of the park would be the new Heart + Playground, which reflects the riverine theme that runs throughout the play space.

The two tall towers consist of multiple levels of play, connected with an elevated rope bridge set over the woodchip and rubber soft-fall flooring.

Children of all ages and adults can easily climb the play structure using the ropes and steps.

Climbing onto the shorter tower, toddlers can enjoy the view from the lookout and then take a slide down the shorter tunnel slide.
Older children can enjoy climbing the taller tower and sliding down the longer tunnel slide for more excitement.

Children can also relax on the rope swings found at the bottom of the towers.

Next to this is the sand play area with multiple diggers and a sand play table, perfect for little ones to get their hands messy!

Another attraction is the huge boulder that looks like the Rackali – a native mammal that lives in the river. Older children can take up the challenge and climb up or around the Rackali.

Other play elements include the inclusive carousel, Viking swing, a triple swing set with a toddler seat and a nest swing.

On the other side, toddlers can enjoy much quieter play in the nature play space. This space draws on riverbank elements such as jetties and boardwalks, using timber and stone.

There is an accessible ramp to the raised play area among the existing trees, where children can find talking tubes and musical and sensory play panels.

There is a concrete slide that is toddler-friendly and wide enough for parents to slide with the little ones. Children can also enjoy the obstacle course with stepping logs and ropes.
At the back of this nature play space is a climbing wall dedicated to younger children, with soft-fall rubber flooring.

Make sure to bring along your skates and bikes, as you don’t want to miss the skate and pump track! The Wilson Park Skate Spot is 30m long and consists of lower-level obstacles, perfect for a casual roll and skill development. The Pump Track is an easy-to-intermediate type track that is suitable for BMX, mountain bikes and scooters. There is also a small bike repair station!

Other facilities include a basketball court with a squash wall and running tracks around it, netball courts, a huge oval for a game of footy, sheltered BBQ facilities and shaded seating. Public toilets are found in Wilson Park, and parking is available along the streets of the park.
