Abbeville Park, in the northern coastal suburb of Mindarie, is a bright, energetic Playground set within a large active reserve. This is very much a โrun, climb and burn off energyโ kind of park โ ideal for active kids who love to scramble, swing, and explore, while still offering enough quieter corners and sensory elements to keep younger children engaged.

Where Abbeville Park really stands out is its range of climbing and physical play options. Kids can challenge themselves on steppers, a mini zipline, rope bridges, a rope spider web, rope tunnels, vertical climbing tubes, a climbing wall, and more traditional monkey bars.

Multiple rope elements are interconnected, creating a mini adventure course thatโs perfect for older or more confident climbers.

There are two main slides โ a wave slide and a spiral slide โ offering different levels of thrill and catering to a variety of ages and abilities.

For younger children or those who prefer calmer, more imaginative play, thereโs still plenty to enjoy. The Playground includes shape and number sensory boards, counting beads, tic tac toe, and a sweet little pretend shop setup thatโs perfect for role play. These elements add a nice educational and sensory layer to the space and give younger siblings something to do while the bigger kids tackle the climbing challenges.

A wooden bridge links parts of the structure and naturally invites exploring, storytelling, and games.

The entire play area is set on sand. A number of shade sails cover key parts of the equipment and a picnic table, making it more comfortable on hot days and a practical option for longer visits.

There are extra benches dotted around the edge of the Playground, giving caregivers a chance to sit while still keeping good visibility of the kids.

Itโs important to note there are no public toilets directly accessible to Playground users. There may be facilities in the nearby sporting storage and club buildings, but these are generally for club use rather than the general public, so itโs best to plan bathroom breaks before you arrive.
Beyond the main play equipment, the wider reserve enhances the parkโs appeal. Pathways around the oval are ideal for scootering and bike riding, and there are grassy areas perfect for running, kicking a ball, or setting up a picnic rug.

A basketball hoop adds another activity option for tweens and teens or for a quick family shoot-around.

Parking is available in the main car park on the opposite side of the playing fields, with the ovals in between you and the Playground. This is fine for older kids, but worth factoring in if youโve got toddlers, prams, or armfuls of gear. There is also limited street parking right alongside the play space, which is very handy if you can snag a spot. The Playground isnโt too close to the road and is bordered by the wider reserve, so it feels reasonably safe for kids who like to roam, though youโll still need to keep an eye on little runners.
Abbeville Park doubles as a busy community sporting hub, home to Mindarie FC, Mindarie Little Athletics Club, and Quinns Rocks Junior Cricket Club. The reserve received upgrades in 2017, including LED sports floodlighting and a kiosk and storage building used by the clubs, which means the area can be quite lively on training or game days. This can add to the atmosphere but may also make parking more competitive during peak sporting times.
There are no food or drink outlets within the park itself, so itโs a good idea to bring water bottles and snacks. If youโre keen to grab a coffee before or after your visit, Zarraffaโs Coffee in Clarkson is one of the closest and most convenient options, just a short drive away. With its mix of challenging climbing equipment, sensory and imaginative play features, open green spaces, and scooter-friendly paths, Abbeville Park is a great choice for families with energetic kids who love to move and explore in a big, open setting.
