Magnolia Way Reserve in Forrestfield is a thoughtfully designed all-abilities Playground that truly puts inclusion at the heart of its layout. Set within a quiet neighbourhood, the space feels calm and welcoming, making it ideal for families who want a relaxed play experience without the intensity of a large regional Playground. Wide pathways, gentle gradients and considered placement of equipment mean children of varying abilities can explore side by side, and caregivers can move around the space with ease.
The Playground is wheelchair- and pram-friendly, with ramped access onto key structures and plenty of room to navigate. The design encourages children to move between different zones, building confidence as they go. There are lots of opportunities for risky play and the development of gross motor skills, but without extreme heights or large drops, which can be stressful for children (and parents!). Instead, it strikes a lovely balance between challenge and safety, making it especially suitable for toddlers, cautious climbers and children who benefit from a slower-paced environment.
Inclusive play is a real highlight here. The main play structures feature ramped access, allowing children using mobility aids to join in the fun alongside siblings and friends.

There are several swing options to suit different needs and preferences, including accessible swings, double swings and rope-suspended swings, so children can choose the movement that feels best for them.

A spinning roundabout, low climbing elements and balancing equipment invite kids to test their coordination and balance at a height that still feels manageable and secure.

Slides, climbing cubes, ropes, balance beams and a wooden seesaw add more variety and keep children engaged for longer visits.

Sensory play has been carefully woven into the Playground. Sensory panels and tactile elements provide lots of opportunities for children who like to explore through touch, sound and movement.

The sandpit and water play area are always popular, especially with younger children and those who enjoy cause-and-effect play – so it’s worth bringing a change of clothes if your child loves getting involved in water play.

The overall feel is spacious and not overly noisy, making it a good option for children with sensory sensitivities who may find busier Playgrounds overwhelming.
Accessibility goes beyond just the equipment. Wide, smooth pathways make it easy for wheelchairs, walkers and prams to move around the whole space. Auslan signs are installed throughout the Playground, along with a communication board, supporting non-verbal communication and helping children and adults alike to feel included and understood. This thoughtful touch reinforces the sense that Magnolia Way Reserve has been purpose-built as a welcoming space for everyone.
Surrounding the play equipment, there are large grassed areas that are perfect for picnics, ball games or simply taking some quiet time away from the main play zones. Families will appreciate the new toilet block, which makes longer visits more convenient, and there is plenty of seating scattered around so caregivers can comfortably supervise from different vantage points. A barbecue is available for those who want to make a morning or afternoon of it.
Parking is available on the surrounding streets, or you can park at the nearby Woolworths and walk across. Forrestfield Hawaiians shopping centre is within walking distance, giving easy access to Woolworths, Coles and local cafés for coffee, snacks or any last-minute supplies. This makes Magnolia Way Reserve an easy choice for combining a play date with errands or a quick lunch.
Do keep in mind that shade is only partial, so the Playground is most comfortable in the mornings or late afternoons, especially on warm days. Hats, sunscreen and water bottles are essential, and some families may prefer to limit visits during the middle of the day in summer. The Playground is unfenced, so it may not be ideal for little “runners” who like to take off, and it can get busy after school when local families drop in for a play.
Overall, Magnolia Way Reserve is a fantastic local Playground for families looking for a calm, inclusive and community-focused place to play. With its mix of accessible equipment, sensory experiences and open green space, it offers a welcoming environment where children of all ages and abilities can connect, explore and have fun together.
