Benson Park, Alkimos

Tucked away on a large open block, this sweet little playground in Alkimos is a peaceful, playful escape for families and dog walkers alike. It might be small in size, but it makes up for it with a huge grassed area perfect for running wild, playing footy, or strolling the dog while the kids burn off energy.

We’re big fans of the simple joys—the 3 S’s: swing, slide, and seesaw—and this park ticks every box. Our little ones were thrilled! The toddler swing is secure and supportive, meaning even the tiniest park-goers can swing safely without slipping out.

The seesaw gets plenty of giggles, and the slide is where the real fun begins.

To reach the slide, kids climb and weave their way through a rope structure—just enough of a challenge to make them feel adventurous. At the top, they’re rewarded with a gentle tube slide, not steep or spirally (which can sometimes feel scary for our eldest). Instead, it’s a smooth ride that had him going back up again and again with confidence and joy.

There’s a shaded picnic table and BBQ close to the play structure—great for quick snacks or a laid-back family lunch.

And bonus: the playground overlooks the entire grass area, so it’s easy to keep an eye on both little climbers and speedy runners.

Insider tip: Come by on a Wednesday morning—your garbage truck-obsessed kiddos will be thrilled to watch the bin truck drive right around the park. It’s a weekly event in our house!

No toilets onsite, but plenty of street parking makes visits a breeze. For a post-play snack or coffee, head over to Alkimos Café & Grill, just a short drive away.
