Free
Join the energetic visual storyteller Aśka to discover the secrets of telling stories with pictures!
Abouth the author
A hugely engaging and popular presenter, Aśka (pronounce ‘Ash-ka’) is passionate about visual literacy. She has published more than ten books and graphic novels. Her recent titles include the CBCA Notable and ALIA Graphic Shortlisted YA graphic novel Stars in Their Eyes, (with Jessica Walton), which has been re-released for the US market by Scholastic in 2023. She is also a recipient of several government Arts grants, prizes, and the May Gibbs Fellowship.
When she’s not creating children’s books, Aśka is travelling across Australia teaching drawing-as-a-language to anyone who’ll listen.
About this event
Starting small, we will have fun with generating story ideas, and then learn how to plan, and expand our stories into longer works.
By the end of the session everyone will have few comics, with plenty of ideas for many more.
And best of all: you do not need to be an artist to do this, as this action packed and super productive 60 minutes is all about using drawing as a language.
Aska will be presenting her Writing with Pictures workshop at Harvey Library on Friday, 7 March 2025 at 12.30pm.
See you there!
