Burswood Park is located on the river near the Crown Hotel complex. You access it from Glenn Place and there is parking provided. If the small parking area near the park is full, there is other parking available within easy walking distance. It is a lovely park with manicured gardens, lots of open space and great views.
The playground is fully fenced and has good shade cover from the beautiful old tree in the middle of the playground and the surrounding trees. There are three entry points to the playground, the gates are not self-latching and easily opened by my 2.5-year-old.
There is plenty to occupy the kids inside and outside the fenced area. There are three play areas, the smaller one caters for the younger toddlers. The whole area is soft fall base. The toddler area has two slides, a small platform with lookout and a cubby space underneath that was being used as a pretend shop the day we visited. The bench under the large tree faces this area, so you can supervise the young ones easily or just enjoy the view across the river to East Perth.
The other two areas are slightly larger and have slides of different heights and styles, climbing apparatus, a fireman pole, naughts and crosses and more. I counted 7 different slides all up. There is also two ride on horses and bouncy koala seat around the play areas.
Outside the fenced area is a lovely park area. There are cycle/walk paths going around the river. Just outside the playground are some status and three hopscotch games set in the pavement. There is plenty of open grass space for the kids to have a run or play ball or other outdoor games. Quite often you will see black swans on the river.
You could pull up a picnic rug under the shade of one of the trees around the playground or a little further away there are gas BBQs and picnic tables available. There is an undercover area with seats which gets popular for parties but it can’t be booked so get in early.
The toilets are a little walk across the grass area and have a separate change room. These were clean and well maintained. There are plenty of rubbish bins and a couple of drink fountains around the playground area.
Burswood Park has something for everyone and gets very popular on weekends. There isn’t a cafe nearby but on weekends you will often find an ice cream van in the car park.
