JH Abrahams Reserve Playground, Crawley

JH Abrahams Reserve is a great park and playground located on the Swan River in Crawley. There is a shaded playground area, plenty of grass space for running and ball games, picnic tables, BBQs, drinking fountains, toilets and great views. There is a bike/walk path along the river if you want to include a walk or ride.

The river is below the river wall and quite a distance from the playground. There was a small beach area with shells when we visited but this will vary with tides. The water is shallow enough to wade in.

JH Abrahams Reserve playground itself consists of three fort style structures with some connected with climbing equipment. There is also a spinning wheel. Most of the equipment was accessible by my almost 3yr old with limited assistance. The climbing equipment would suit older children. The shade sails cover most of the equipment depending on the angle of the sun. There are also some trees providing shade. There is a park bench on the edge of the play area under tree shade. All the play equipment is on the soft fall rubber.

There were three different slides, two climbing walls, monkey bars, a flying fox, fireman pole, climbing ladders, noughts and crosses and little cubby holes to play in. My daughter was fully occupied for a good period of time with all the different activities. There are no swings at this playground.

For older children there is also a basketball hoop and plenty of space for ball games or frisbee. Also, some paths that could be used for scooter or bike riding.

JH Abrahams Reserve is well equipped with a nearby toilet block, which has an outside shower and disabled toilet. At the time of our visit, this was well stocked and clean.

Scattered around the Reserve are a number of shaded picnic tables and BBQ facilities. There is also plenty of grassed area and trees if you prefer to put a rug down. There are also a couple of drink fountains around the area.

The playground backs onto the car park but the carpark side is fenced. It is a ticketed car park with parking currently $1.80 per hour up to 3 hours.

On the other side of the carpark is another picnic / BBQ area with shaded or open picnic table option.

We had a lovely morning play at this playground and intend to return with a picnic in the future.
