The new pump track was built and tested by Common Ground, one of the premier track builders in Australia. It has been designed to be used by Bikes, skateboards or scooters. The design caters to all skill levels. As you enter the area, there is a sign which maps out the track with beginner, intermediate and advanced paths marked and arrows showing the direction to ride.
The pump track contains two endless loops with a jump line, rollers, berms and jumps. Some of the features, like the jump line are designed for experienced riders to get some air.
The track officially opened on Friday 23rd September and has been busy ever since. Ride safely, ride within your limits and respect other riders. Some are complete beginners on small bikes and others are very advanced and enjoy the speed and air that comes with the advanced tracks. Even if you don’t ride the track it is fun to watch.
If you are an observer like me there are a couple of park benches along the side, one is under a nice shady tree. There is also some grassed areas around the edge, and I saw families setting up picnic rugs getting ready for a big day on the track.
Don’t forget the Canning River Cafe is only a short walk away for coffee and food options. If the jumps or track are too much for your little ones you can take a ride along the bike paths around this area. There are also public toilets only a short walk away from the track.
The Kent St Weir area really has something for everyone now and is a great family day out.
