Mojo Park in Cockburn Central is a brilliant suburban Playground and recreation space tucked within the colourful Mojo Urban Living estate. Despite being slightly hidden away in the estate, the park itself feels open and spacious, with a large grassed area, tall gum trees and a good mix of play equipment that suits a range of ages and abilities.
The main Playground combines nature play elements with more traditional structures. Underfoot youโll find a mix of soft fall, sand and wood chips, so kids can run, climb and explore with a bit of variety in textures. The large central play structure offers several different ways up to the slide platform, including a log ladder, rope ladder, log steps and a small climbing wall. This keeps older kids engaged as they can challenge themselves to try different routes and turn it into little obstacle courses or races with friends.

Alongside the larger structure, there are plenty of balance challenges scattered through the space. Balancing logs and uneven stepping pods are dotted around the Playground, perfect for โthe floor is lavaโ style games. These natural elements blend nicely with the surrounding trees and make the whole area feel more like a nature play space than a standard suburban Playground.

Youโll also find a traditional swing set with two standard seats, as well as a popular birdโs nest (circular) swing which is ideal for younger children or kids who like to swing lying down or with a friend.

Smaller children are well catered for with a low, separate fort that has stairs and a gentle flat slide. This means toddlers donโt have to navigate the higher main structure but can still enjoy climbing and sliding with a bit more confidence and independence.

A fun feature at Mojo Park is the set of whisper tubes, which allow kids to speak into one end and be heard at the other. Theyโre great for imaginative play, secret messages and plenty of giggles. The tubes, combined with the different climbing and balancing options, make the Playground an engaging space for creative play as well as physical activity.

Beyond the play equipment, Mojo Park really stands out as a broader recreation hub for the community. There is a full-size, brightly painted basketball court that adds a burst of colour and gives older kids, teens and adults a place to shoot hoops or play a proper game.

Next to this youโll find a bounce wall, ideal for ball games and practising throwing or kicking skills, and a concrete ping pong table for a bit of friendly competition. These extras make the park a spot the whole family can enjoy, not just younger children.

The surrounding open space is a major drawcard. A large oval with AFL goal posts sits beside the Playground, providing plenty of room for a kick of the footy, a casual game of soccer or just a run around. The developers have retained a number of mature gum trees, which not only look beautiful but also provide welcome natural shade and habitat for local birdlife โ including the black cockatoos that are often seen (and heard) in the area. Itโs a lovely setting for a picnic rug under the trees while the kids play nearby.

Facilities at Mojo Park make it a practical choice for longer visits or catchโups with friends. There are free gas barbecues, shaded picnic tables, water fountains and taps, and bike racks, so you can easily ride over, cook up lunch and settle in for a few hours. All of this helps make it a great option for casual playdates or even a relaxed birthday party in the park. The only real drawback is the lack of on-site public toilets; the nearest toilets are likely at the Cockburn Central train station, so itโs worth planning ahead, especially with younger children.

Overall, Mojo Park offers a well-designed blend of nature-inspired play, traditional Playground fun and active recreation facilities. The big open spaces, mature trees and sporting options mean it appeals to toddlers through to teens, and even adults who want to shoot hoops or enjoy a barbecue in a pleasant, leafy setting. If youโre in or around Cockburn Central, this โhiddenโ park is well worth seeking out for a relaxed family outing.
