Today we discovered the newly opened pirate playground in Ellenbrook. It’s located on Verbana Drive near Cashman Avenue. It is fully fenced (although there are a few areas where little ones could escape in the space under the fencing), shaded and there is soft fall and well as sand within in the park.
My 3 year old was in pirate heaven as the main part of the playground is shaped as a pirate ship with a steering wheel, pretend canons and a lookout.
There are palm trees and a treasure chest that add to the theme as well as balance beams where kids can “walk the plank”.
This park is perfect for imaginative play, with the kids pretending to have to be saved from sharks, crocodiles and the whale in the ‘water’.
There’s a hammock in the sand, swings, a seesaw, plastic seated merry-go-round and a rope climbing area.
There are a number of benches and picnic tables and plenty of parking spaces as well as 2 toilets, located just outside the park, near the carpark.
A perfect thing to do on a cold winters day is to grab a $1 coffee and some Krispy Kremes at the 7/11 servo near the park, although it’s not within walking distance.
