The brand NEW $ 6.7 million Youth Entertainment Space (YES) opened at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale, and it has quickly become one of the top hotspots for local teens to hang out! This state-of-the-art facility that’s fully sheltered (the first of its kind in Perth Metro area!) is designed closely with local young people to ensure the space is inclusive and inviting, and is the perfect one-stop recreational hub for everyone in the community to enjoy all year round!
What we love:
Vibrant urban play area with hangout zone that features social swings and platform seatings.
Challenging climbing walls and a huge roll-runner that looks like a human-sized hamster wheel!
Children can climb to the top platform, hang out on the rope nettings, or sit on platform seats, and enjoy a bird ‘s-eye view of the whole plaza.
Younger children can enjoy the nest swings.
There are plenty of seats and a rest area for everyone to chill. Some seats even have USB charging ports.
The enormous skate plaza features a Split-level skating area with rails and banks and a Shallow skate bowl for all skill levels.
Outside the plaza, there is a sealed pump track for BMX, mountain bikes or scooters to ride.
Skaters can also enjoy the half pipe ramp located outside of the sheltered area.
There is a multipurpose area with a rebound wall for games like basketball, netball and futsal.
And at night, YES comes to life with colourful LED lights lighting up the whole space (lights go off at 9pm) and there are projectors that can be used to host special events.
Undercover BBQ facilities with a water fountain are located just beside the outdoor skatepark. Plans are underway to build the toilets closer to the skatepark, but for now, the nearest toilets are located just opposite the oval within walkable distance.
Plenty of parking are available at the carpark just right beside it. Families with younger toddlers can also check out the fully-fenced Sutherlands Park All Abilities playground that’s within close proximity too.
