The City of Gosnells has unveiled its latest inclusive play space at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale. This exciting development marks the first completed project of the Sutherlands Park Master Plan, with a Youth Entertainment Space still to come. The playground is one of ten all-abilities playgrounds being developed by the City of Gosnells to create more inclusive play spaces throughout the community.
This thoughtfully designed, fully-fenced playground features an array of accessible equipment including trampolines, swings, a carousel, and charming pretend play areas complete with a shopfront and petrol kiosk. Built on soft-fall rubber surfacing, the playground offers generous spacing between play structures and includes wheelchair-friendly ramp access to the slides.
Young adventurers can challenge themselves on various climbing equipment, including ropes, nets, and walls.
For younger visitors, the playground offers engaging sensory play elements, featuring musical equipment and colourful interactive wall panels.
A highlight for many children is the interactive pinball game wall.
The playground includes several exciting features:
- Multiple spinning seats provide endless entertainment, while a challenging balancing labyrinth maze board offers additional fun for older children
- A delightful petrol kiosk perfect for imaginative play – bring along bikes or scooters to make the most of this cute feature
- Age-appropriate balance challenges with logs and steps designed with little ones in mind
- A variety of swings including a nest swing and toddler-friendly options
- Built-in trampolines for active play
- An inclusive carousel designed for all abilities
Comfort and convenience have been carefully considered, with shaded benches surrounding the playground. Just outside the fenced area, visitors will find water fountains and bins. The location offers ample free parking, including dedicated ACROD spaces in the adjacent car park.
Sutherlands Park’s extensive oval grounds provide the perfect setting for family sports activities like cricket, tee ball, and football. Visitors can access toilet facilities, gazebos, and BBQ areas within walking distance at Reserve C of Sutherlands Park.
This new playground represents an important step forward in creating inclusive play spaces where children of all abilities can play together and thrive.
