Just when you thought Bunbury couldn’t get any more kid-friendly – along comes another fantastic playground! Joining Sykes Foreshore Splash Park, Koolambidi Woola Youth Precinct (skate park) and Koombana Foreshore Playground, Mangrove Cove is a spot where nature and adventure collide. This nature playground invites families to pause by the Leschenault Inlet and enjoy a little outdoor fun. Whether you’re embarking on a road trip down south or simply seeking somewhere new to explore in Bunno, this newly opened playground promises plenty to discover.
The Mangrove Cove car park is found across the road from the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Here, there’s a small sand fall timber playground, perfect for younger children. There’s fun sand play elements, and plenty of stepping and balancing logs.
But that’s not all! Walk along the boardwalk, towards the lookout tower, and you’ll find the hidden Mangrove Cove playground.
Inspired by the unique mangrove ecosystem found in the Leschenault Inlet, Mangrove Cove’s accessible adventure playground is brilliantly designed.
A wide, accessible walkway guides everyone up, and through the play area, leading to a lookout deck that offers sweeping views of the Leschenault Inlet.
From climbing frames that resemble mangrove roots, to ladders, slides, rope nets, and bridges to cross, every element of the playground reflects the surrounding area.
Children can let their imaginations soar as they explore the diverse play structures.
Ground-level facilities within the inclusive play area ensure that all visitors can fully enjoy the magic of Mangrove Cove. A wheelchair-accessible waterplay table and tunnel invite children of all abilities to explore and enjoy splashing good fun on warm days.
A basket swing, plus musical elements like drums and chimes, add to the sensory experience.
I was really impressed by the picnic and barbecue facilities (many covered). These offer the perfect opportunity for families and friends to gather and enjoy an event.
Convenient toilet facilities ensure that visitors can relax without worrying about little ones needing the loo too.
Located in close proximity to Bunbury’s other brilliant playgrounds, Mangrove Cove serves as a gateway to endless hours of outdoor fun and playground hopping. Whether you’re swinging, splashing in the water, or simply soaking in the breathtaking scenery, Mangrove Cove promises a great space to explore.
After a play, climb the Koombana Bay Lookout tower.
The 15 meter lookout has sweeping 360-views of Bunbury and Koombana Bay. See if the kids can spot the famous Bunbury “milk carton” building!
Bunbury’s Mangrove Cove, with its inclusive design, fun equipment, breathtaking views, and convenient amenities, invites kids to embrace adventure in this West Aussie town.
Find Mangrove Cove Playground at Koombana Drive, Bunbury. Opposite the Dolphin Discovery Centre.
