Visiting the cute seaside town of Horrocks is like stepping back in time. The coast used to be dotted with little fishing villages that were popular with holidaymakers, now most of these are suburbs! Situated in between Geraldton and Kalbarri it makes a perfect addition to a coastal road trip or even as a place to spend a few days. With little traffic, the quiet town is safe for kids to explore on bikes or by foot.
The real drawcard here is the beach. With a reef encircling and protecting the beach from swell, itโs a great place for kids to swim. A big jetty juts out into the sparkling water for the brave to jump off and shade structures on the sand to ensure you can stay for hours. An accessibility ramp makes it easier for wheelchairs and prams to access the beach.
A new playground has been added to the foreshore. The pirate ship-themed playground features straight slides, a twisty slide, climbing nets and swings. The playground is raised from the beach, so it enjoys panoramic views of the coast.
BBQs and toilets are also provided as well as a large, protected alfresco eating area for when the sea breeze is too strong.
Across the road from the playground is the cute-as-a-button general store for thoseย all importantย ice-cream purchases. There is a variety of accommodation on offer in the town, ranging from private holiday home rentals to campsites and on-site chalets at theย Horrocksย Beach Caravan Park.
Horrocksย is a 5 ยฝ hour drive north of Perth, 1 hour north of Geraldton.
