Tucked within the Piara Waters development, Explorer Park is a bright, compact and very active little Playground thatโs ideal for families who love to be outdoors and on the move. Located at the opposite end of the reserve from the popular Madox Playground and Pump Track, this park works perfectly as part of a longer play outing, or as a handy local spot to burn off energy after school.

The Playground itself may be small, but itโs cleverly designed and packed with things to climb, jump and bounce on. One of the standout features is the wavy climbing wall, which offers a fun challenge for confident climbers and school-aged kids who like to test their balance and strength.

There are also traditional favourites including a see-saw and swings, giving younger children plenty to enjoy as well.

On the ground, two small in-ground trampolines are guaranteed kid magnets. Theyโre great for toddlers through to older children, and because theyโre sunken into the surface they feel a little safer for younger jumpers too. The play area is finished with a mix of soft fall and wood chips, and is covered by shade sails, which helps keep equipment cooler on hot days.

Explorer Park really comes into its own for active older kids and teens thanks to the multi-sports court right next door to the Playground. This hard court space includes two basketball hoops and two soccer goals, making it ideal for a proper game with friends or some casual practice. The smooth surface also suits roller skates and rollerblades, so kids can bring wheels as well as balls.

Adding to the sports options is a rebound/tennis wall featuring painted-on cricket stumps and a target. This makes it easy for children to practise ball skills and accuracy โ whether theyโre into tennis, cricket or just enjoy having a throw. Itโs the sort of flexible, open-ended play element that suits a wide age range and keeps kids entertained for longer.

For families who like to make a morning or afternoon of it, thereโs a large picnic shelter providing plenty of shade. Underneath youโll find picnic tables, bench seating and BBQs, making it a convenient spot for a sausage sizzle, birthday get-together or casual picnic. The wide open feel of the surrounding park, plus the nearby sports court and Playground, means parents can relax while still keeping an eye on the action.

Behind the sports area youโll find several exercise stations, allowing adults and older teens to fit in a quick workout while younger children play. Thereโs also a bike rack, which is handy if youโre riding over from nearby streets or linking a park visit with a scoot or cycle around the area. Being in the same green space as Madox Playground and the Pump Track, families can easily move between the different zones for even more variety.

Explorer Park is a great choice for active families with children of different ages. Younger kids are well catered for with the swings, see-saw, trampolines and musical and sensory elements, while older children and teens have the full multi-sports court, tennis wall and exercise equipment to keep them busy. With shade, BBQs and seating on hand, itโs a practical and enjoyable place to spend time outdoors in Piara Waters.
