Bayswater Riverside Gardens is a muchโloved riverside Playground and parkland thatโs especially perfect for toddlers and young children. Stretching along both Milne Street and King William Street in Bayswater, it combines a fully fenced play space with big open lawns, river views and easy paths, making it a spot where families can comfortably spend a whole morning or afternoon.

The Playground itself is designed with little ones in mind. Itโs fully fenced and gated, with rubber soft fall underfoot and shade sails overhead in the warmer months, giving parents a bit more peace of mind.

Inside the fence youโll find swings for babies, toddlers and older children, a fun roundabout, a spinning pole, a lowโlevel climbing frame with walkways and tunnels, cubbyโstyle sections and three different height slides.

Thereโs also a bouncy seesaw and surfboard rocker, plus a small climbing net that gives slightly older kids a gentle challenge without being overwhelming.

Outside the Playground fence, the park opens out into large grassed areas shaded by established trees. These lawns are ideal for picnics, kicking a ball or throwing a frisbee, and there are several picnic tables and barbeques dotted around the reserve. Dual use paths for walking and cycling weave through the gardens and along the river, so itโs well worth bringing scooters or bikes. From here you can continue on to explore neighbouring Hinds Reserve and the Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary, turning a quick park visit into a longer family walk.

Set right on the Swan River, Riverside Gardens also has sandy stretches of riverbank where families often build sandcastles or paddle in shallow water on hot days. Because of the proximity to the water, itโs important to keep a close eye on younger children once you step outside the fenced Playground area. The river setting does, however, make this one of the more scenic Playgrounds in Perth, with lovely views across the water and plenty of birdlife to spot.
Riverside Gardens is also a very popular destination for dog owners. The eastern side of the reserve contains a large, fenced dog exercise area with separate spaces for small and large dogs, agility equipment, seating and shade, as well as offโlead dog areas in designated zones. On the western side, dogs are welcome but must remain on lead in the designated areas, which helps make the main play and picnic lawns feel more comfortable for families who prefer a bit of separation from offโlead dogs. There are also drink fountains including a dog bowl, so both kids and pets can rehydrate easily.
Facilities are a real highlight here. The park offers multiple picnic shelters, barbeques, public toilets and plenty of seating, as well as large car parks on both the east and west sides with ACROD bays for easier access. Thereโs a designated food truck bay, and families are just a short drive from local eateries such as The Oarhouse in Bayswater, making it easy to pair a park visit with a relaxed family meal nearby.
All up, Bayswater Riverside Gardens offers a lovely blend of safe, toddlerโfriendly play, beautiful river scenery and practical family facilities. With its fenced Playground, open lawns, river beach, dog exercise areas and easy paths, itโs a versatile park that works just as well for a quick play after school as it does for a full family day out.
