Melville Place, South Perth
A South Perth icon you’ve probably spotted from the freeway, The Old Mill is Perth’s oldest surviving building, dating back to 1835. It’s a quick, family-friendly history stop with great views near the foreshore, signage to read as you wander, and plenty of space for kids to explore the grounds.
Buggybuddys Review
@buggybuddys📍 The Old Mill, South Perth (built 1835!) One of Perth’s easiest little history stops with kids – right by the Narrows + South Perth foreshore. ✅ Why take the kids: Grounds open 7 days (great for a quick wander + pics) Scavenger hunt on arrival (kids get clipboards!) Lawn games in warmer months (ring toss, bean bag toss, hula hoops) Toilets + picnic benches Loads of signage about both First Nations and European history of the site ⏰ Want to go inside? Guided tours run 2–4pm on the 1st + 3rd Sunday of each month (summer/autumn/spring, weather permitting). Note: you can’t climb the internal staircase at the moment, but you can view the milling equipment on the ground level. 📍 Melville Place, South Perth More info: Buggybuddys review #Buggybuddys #PerthKids #PerthMums #SouthPerth #ThingstodoInPerth #PerthHistory #FamilyDayOut #PerthWalks #WAFamily #PerthForeshore
