North
Mrs Herbert’s Park is located right on the calm waters of Freshwater Bay in Claremont. The park slopes down towards the river with a playground, picnic area and toilets. Alternatively, head to picturesque Chidley Point Reserve in Mosman Park. Enjoy the calm waters of the river and a picnic or BBQ with friends.
South
Visit Quarantine Park in Bicton, home of the shallow waters of the Bicton Baths. The park is located on the top of the hill with an amazing view of the beautiful Swan River. It features a great fenced playground and barbecue area. Alternatively, take a trip to John Tonkin Reserve in East Fremantle. Play in the ship themed playground, grab a coffee from Zephyr Cafe and splash in the shallow river waters.
Perth Hills
Take a day trip to Lake Leschenaultia, a man-made lake situated in the country town of Chidlow. The calm waters of the lake and it’s sandy beaches make it the ideal spot for small children to play. Hire a canoe, or wander the 3km walking trail around the lake where you might meet the resident wildlife. Pack a lunch and stop at one of picnic tables and BBQ’s dotted around the lake. In addition, a campground is located nearby if you decide to make a weekend of it!
