Hinckley Park in Hocking is one of those Playground-and-park combos that can easily fill an entire morning, especially if your kids are the kind who like to keep moving. Set across a big neighbourhood reserve, it’s been designed as a true “destination park” with multiple zones rather than just one main play structure. The standout is how much space there is to spread out, so it works just as well for a relaxed picnic as it does for a high-energy playdate.

If you only remember one thing before you go, make it this: bring wheels. The children’s bike circuit is the hero feature here, and it’s easy to see why—there’s loads of room for scooters and bikes, plus fun details that make it feel like a real little road network. The track sits right alongside the play areas, so you can keep an eye on kids swapping between riding laps and jumping back into the Playground.

Around the circuit you’ll find the “Aussie outdoors” feel that makes Hinckley Park different from a standard suburban Playground. There are nature play touches and big animal features that kids love spotting, and it encourages that open-ended style of play where they invent games rather than lining up for one piece of equipment.

For kids who want more traditional Playground equipment, there’s plenty to do as well. Expect a mix of climbing and sliding (including an embankment-style slide area) plus swings that cater to different ages, which makes it a good option if you’ve got toddlers and older siblings to entertain at the same time.

Sand play is another strong point here, with features that keep little builders busy for ages—particularly good if you’ve got kids who love digging, tipping, and experimenting with how sand moves.

Outside the Playground itself, Hinckley Park works nicely as a general park visit too. There’s a decent open grassed area for kicking a ball, as well as sport-style facilities like a basketball court. It’s the sort of place where you can pack a picnic (or plan a casual family BBQ) and feel like you’ve got options no matter what mood your kids are in.

Parking is straightforward, with off-road bays available at the southern end of the park on Copenhagen Drive. One thing to plan around is amenities: toilets aren’t something you can rely on here, so it’s worth doing a bathroom stop before you arrive.
