While the Wanneroo skate park has been established for a long time a children’s playground is a more recent addition. The park sits within the confines of the showgrounds, meaning it is secure for little runaways!
I’m not sure if the playground colours of green and purple are a nod to the 1970’s Wanneroo Primary School colours, or just a happy accident, either way, it is a fun combo. The equipment features a curved slide, swings and a rowboat.
There are a lot of ramps to run along and climbing frames. The whole playground is covered in shade sails to protect from the sun. There are many tall trees to provide shade on the grass around the playground and toilets are next to it. It would be a great place for a picnic as the grass is always green at the showgrounds. There’s no café as such at the park, but on weekends the footy club has their canteen open and that’s only a short stroll away. The community tennis courts flank one side, so this playground is a great place for little kids to play if you’re having a game!
Next to the playground is the skate park, it features a bowl at one side with grinding rails and steps at the other. The skate park area doesn’t have a lot of shade and is pretty exposed so it does get hot in summer.
Parking for the skate park and playground is accessed off Ariti Avenue, Wanneroo.

Good for if you have an older child but also a little one as there is a playground right there.
