The Inner Clue Detectives: Helping Children Tune in to their Inner Clues

Discover interoception — our often-overlooked eighth sense that helps us notice and make sense of signals coming from inside our bodies.
In this session, Jacinta will share the story behind her best selling children’s book, The Inner Clue Detectives, which uses storytelling, simple language and a playful detective theme to help young children explore their own unique internal body signals.
Jacinta will introduce The Inner Clue Approach™, bringing together interoception and co-regulation through a trauma-informed and neuroaffirming approach. With co-regulation at its heart, the approach recognises the important role adults play in supporting children through connection and responsive support, rather than expecting children to self-regulate independently from a young age.
The session will also explore how the book’s companion toolkits for parents/caregivers, and for educators/therapists extend the Inner Clue concepts beyond the story and into children’s everyday environments.
Attendees will also be introduced to the Inner Clue Check-In™, an interactive resource that will remain at the library for ongoing use, giving children and families a simple way to pause, tune in and explore their Inner Clues whenever they visit.
