Science Week – Ocean Discovery Education
Monday 17 August 2026 | 3.30pm – 4.30pm | Subiaco Library
Ages 6+
The National Science Week theme for 2026 is Seeds of Science – Nurturing knowledge for all. This theme invites students across Australia to explore the power of curiosity, inquiry and shared learning in growing scientific understanding.
Join us after school to discover how some of the ocean’s biggest wonders begin with the smallest beginnings. Through interactive exploration, real marine specimens, and a live animal touch pool, children will learn about plankton, seagrass, kelp forrests, coral reefs, and the important role they play in our oceans.
This hands hands-on session combines marine science, conservation and discovery, insping young learners to grow thier own Seeds of Science through curiosity and exploration.
Subiaco library runs science week events for school children after school. An adult must accompany children, and remain within the library, during all activities.
