Raise the Roof – Behind the Scenes at The Railway Museum
Explore the museum at your own pace, with full general admission available, or upgrade your visit with our Devonshire Teas option or a visit to our memorabilia stall.. Children’s activities will be available including Lego and games. Don’t miss the amazing model railway either or the sausage sizzle.
For this one-day event, visitors will also have the rare opportunity to step behind the scenes. Small, guided groups will be taken beyond the public areas into our restoration and storage spaces — places not normally accessible — offering a unique look at the work involved in conserving our collection. These behind-the-scenes tours will run throughout the day and are offered by donation, with all proceeds going directly toward the Raise the Roof campaign.
Every ticket, every donation, and every visit contributes to safeguarding this collection for future generations. You can purchase tickets for museum entry only or for museum entry and Devonshire tea – your session time is only for the Devonshire teas, but you are absolutely welcome to join us at the museum at anytime before or after this session time.
