Alkimos Beach has a thrilling new addition—the Leatherback Plaza Ninja Warrior Course, the third of its kind in Western Australia! Located right next to the Leatherback Pavilion, this obstacle course is designed for teens and adults (ages 12 and up) looking to test their agility, strength, and speed in a fun and challenging way.
The course kicks off with the classic Quintuple Steps, challenging your coordination right from the start.
Next, you navigate the Rock Hop, requiring balance and precision, before tackling the Inside Out Bars, a true test of upper body strength.
From there, you climb an elevated cargo net, maneuver across the Plank Walk, and face the Up and Over challenge. If you’ve made it this far, you’ll take on the Big Fling, swing through the Field of Rings, and finally weave through the Pole Forest before a short sprint to the finish line.
Each obstacle is strategically placed to test different skills, making it perfect for both first-timers and seasoned fitness enthusiasts. Whether you’re aiming just to complete the course or pushing for a personal best time, the setup encourages progression at all levels.
One of the coolest features is the QR code at the start of the course. Scanning it provides access to instructional videos, course rules, and a timer to record your run. You can also save your times and compete with the community via the leaderboard at parkwarrior.com.au. While the Leatherback Plaza course isn’t fully listed on the site yet, you can still use the app to learn about similar obstacles—hopefully, it will be officially added soon!
For those looking for organized competitions, the course also hosts community championships, adding an extra layer of excitement and challenge for local fitness enthusiasts.
As expected, the course gets very busy right after school, with teens and young adults eager to take on the challenge. If you prefer a quieter experience, head there in the late afternoon when the crowd thins out, making it easier to practice and improve your skills.
While the ninja course is the main attraction, the area offers plenty of other activities. Just next to it, younger kids can explore the old Bicycle Safety Course, learning road rules in a fun and interactive way. On the opposite side of the pavilion, there’s a wall climbing arch and a basketball court for those looking for alternative physical challenges. The large grass oval nearby is also perfect for a game of footie, cricket, or soccer, making Leatherback Plaza a great destination for active families.
The Leatherback Plaza Ninja Warrior Course is a fantastic new addition to Alkimos Beach, bringing a fresh and challenging outdoor fitness option to the northern suburbs. With its well-thought-out obstacles, tech integration, and community leaderboard, it’s perfect for those looking to push their limits, have fun, and stay active.
If you’re ready to unleash your inner ninja, grab your runners, head down to Leatherback Plaza, and give it a go!
