Barking Gecko Arts at Subiaco Arts Centre

For thousands of years, people have looked up to the night sky and told stories about the stars, with many cultures interpreting these magical formations uniquely. These celestial myths tell stories of vengeful gods, goddesses, monsters, heroes, and ancestral spirits. Others try to make sense of the natural world or unravel the mysteries of the universe. They reflect how different cultures sought to understand their place in the cosmos, weaving mythology, spirituality and natural observation into enduring tales that still captivate us today.

Join Barking Gecko Arts at Subiaco Arts Centre for this exhilarating workshop across 4 days as you journey into the night sky and other universes and look to create your own star stories. Inspired by the many beautiful tales across cultures and led by professional teaching artists, young creatives will create their own characters and learn performance and theatre-making skills while simultaneously building their confidence and self-expression, all while making fantastic new friendships in a fun, inclusive and nurturing environment. Participants will then share their creative discoveries with an informal showing for family and friends on the final day.
