For thousands of years, people have looked up to the night sky and told stories about the stars, with many cultures interpreting these magical formations uniquely. These celestial myths tell stories of vengeful gods, goddesses, monsters, heroes, and ancestral spirits. Others try to make sense of the natural world or unravel the mysteries of the universe. They reflect how different cultures sought to understand their place in the cosmos, weaving mythology, spirituality and natural observation into enduring tales that still captivate us today.
Join Barking Gecko Arts at Koorliny Arts Centre this April school holidays for an exhilarating workshop across 3-days as you journey into the night sky and other universes and look to create your own star stories. Inspired by the many beautiful tales that exist across cultures and led by Barking Gecko Arts Teaching Artists, young creatives will create their own characters and learn performance and theatre-making skills whilst simultaneously building their confidence and self-expression, all while making fantastic new friendships in a fun, inclusive and nurturing environment.
Thanks to the generous support of the City of Kwinana, this workshop program is offered at a subsidised rate.
