Freestyling to Friendship | School Holiday Program | South Metro

Join us for a 2 day dance workshop involving a variety of fun movement games which require creativity, cooperation and collaboration.

2 Day Program focusing on identifying who are “good friends” and how to be a “good friend.

Dance workshop where we will participate in a variety of fun movement games which require creativity, cooperation and collaboration. We will choreograph short dance routines around the theme of friendships. Work collaboratively to design and create a “freestyling to friendship” bandana to demonstrate our knowledge of how to be a good friend and to symbolise new friendships made.

This program also includes an excursion to the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre!

When

Tuesday, 14 January | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Wednesday, 15 January | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Who

Youth aged 7 to 12 who has a family member or a friend living with a mental health challenge.

Day 1: Sullivan Hall Fremantle

Day 2: Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

Hat, sun cream, water bottle, enclosed shoes

School Holiday Program important info

  • If your child has not received support from HelpingMinds before (or within the last 6 months) a phone interview will need to take place with the parent/guardian
  • A consent form will need to be signed by both parents.
  • If children require medication throughout the day, they will be required to self-administer this.
  • External support workers are not allowed at the workshop.
  • Children require adequate independent coping skills to be able to deal with group situations.
  • All our workshops have a maximum capacity to ensure our counsellors can provide adequate professional support for all children attending.
  • To give everyone in the community a fair chance, each child can enrol in a maximum of two workshops.
  • This program is funded by the Mental Health Commission to provide support to young people caring for someone or with a loved one with a mental health concern. This program is provided at no cost to participants.
