Have you checked out the Victoria Park Skate Park/ Vic Park Bowl at McCallum Park? If you have children that love to skate, next time you’re in the area be sure to throw the skateboards and scooters in your car.
The skate park is located near to the Causeway, where there’s also lots of grassed space to kick a footy. The river side bike paths make it a great place to couple a visit the skate park with a scoot/walk/ride along the Swan River. East to Burswood Park and Optus Stadium, or West to Coode St and South Perth.
The skate and scooter park has plenty to keep kids from beginner to advanced level skaters entertained. There’s a lot to encourage kids to work on their skills at the concrete park. The skate park has two main areas. There’s the bowl and a separate “fun box” area. I’m not really sure why they are separate, but hey – I’m no skater. Younger kids will love to scoot up and down the ramps.
Or test your skills in the deep bowl, which will excite seasoned skaters. The area is in direct sunlight, though there are shady areas near the trees.
Other facilities at include seating, a water fountain and a nearby basketball court.
Closer to the river there’s an unshaded traditional-style metal playground.
Parking is a short walk away. A trip to a skatepark is a brilliant cost-free outdoor activity for kids. Little grommets of all ages will enjoy the Victoria Park Skate Park.
Find the Victoria Park Skate Park at McCallum Park, 21 Canning Hwy, Victoria Park. (best to park on Garland St)
