The Village at Wellard Playground is a leafy, community-focused play space that genuinely offers something for all ages. Set within The Village at Wellard and bordered by a skate park and BMX track, itโs the kind of spot where active kids can easily spend a couple of hours climbing, jumping, riding and exploring, while parents relax under the shade of the mature trees.
The standout feature is the large rope climbing frame that forms the heart of the Playground. Kids can clamber up through the ropes, choosing to come down via the slide at the middle level or keep climbing to the higher platforms above for an extra challenge. Itโs a great structure for building confidence, strength and coordination, and will most appeal to schoolโaged children and adventurous older kids who enjoy some height and a bit of a thrill.

Around the main tower thereโs a jumble of jungle ropes and hanging elements, including hammock-style nets where tired legs can take a break between climbs.

Nearby, a dome climbing frame adds even more opportunities to scramble and balance.

This structure also incorporates musical play โ children can tap out rhythms and experiment with sounds on a drum, tambourine and noiseโmaker panels, which is perfect for younger kids and those who enjoy sensory experiences.

Swings are always a favourite, and here youโll find a 3โway swing thatโs made for group play. Kids can swing together, race each other and enjoy the social side of play, which adds to the friendly, neighbourhood vibe of the park.

For smaller children, thereโs a low slide built into a grassed hill. There are no steps; the only way up is to walk or run up the hill itself, which is fantastic for little legs building balance and gross motor skills in a more lowโkey way than the big rope tower.

Tucked just behind the hill slide are three mini trampolines set into the ground. These are always a hit with energetic kids who love to bounce, and because theyโre inโground they tend to feel a bit safer and more accessible for a wide range of ages.

One of the nicest aspects of The Village at Wellard Playground is the setting. A large grass area stretches out beside the play equipment, shaded by beautiful mature trees that provide natural cover on hot days. Itโs an inviting space for a picnic rug, a casual ball game or simply sitting with a coffee while the kids explore.

On the opposite side of this lawn is a skate park, and set among the trees youโll find a fantastic BMX track. This combination makes the area especially appealing for families with mixed ages โ younger children can enjoy the Playground while older kids bring their bikes, scooters or skateboards and make use of the extra facilities.

Practical facilities are well thought out, with tables and seating scattered around the Playground and a free gas barbecue available, making it easy to turn a simple playdate into an impromptu sausage sizzle. A drinking fountain on site is handy for water topโups, particularly after all that climbing and riding.

The main downside is that there are no toilets within the Playground itself. The nearest toilets are located at Wellard Train Station and the adjacent shopping centre, about a 10โminute walk away. Itโs a good idea to plan ahead with bathroom stops before you settle in, especially if youโre visiting with toiletโtraining toddlers or children who might need frequent trips.
Overall, The Village at Wellard Playground is a great allโround local park with a strong focus on active, adventurous play. The combination of a substantial rope climbing tower, swings, trampolines, grassy open space, skate park and BMX track makes it a top pick for nearby families and a solid option if youโre exploring parks around Wellard. While it may not be a โmegaโ destination Playground youโd travel across Perth for, itโs definitely worth a visit if youโre in the area or looking to discover new parks in the southern suburbs.

This park is ok if you’re in the area. I was close by visiting my nanna, I wouldn’t go out of your way though. Small skatepark. Pump track was pretty fun but a bit dangerous in spots. Two out of the three trampolines were broken.
Great for locals, just don’t make it your destination for a day trip.
