Found along Southwest Highway, in the quaint country town of Waroona, Railside Park is a newly developed destination (Opened December 2023) that caters to every age group of kids. Whether you’re a local or traveler seeking a place to stretch your legs; this park promises plenty to entertain the kids, enjoy a picnic, and more to explore.
The first thing that catches your eye is the windmill slide. Children of all ages will love exploring the many play features, from the climbing frames and swings that offer endless entertainment. The windmill is best for older kids, as its slide is accessed by a ladder.
An accessible merry go round is great for kids in wheelchairs or strollers.
The Dethridge wheel water feature offers a fun water-play opportunity that’s sure to delight kiddos of all ages. Splash and play in the waters as run down the creek, creting dams along the way.
For families with little ones in tow, there’s a handy fenced and gated toddler area which has been thoughtfully designed with both safety and fun in mind.
Here, youngsters can let their imaginations run wild as they play with the beautiful timber truck and other age-appropriate activities like a small slide, (on a sand-fall base).
If you’ve brought the bikes or scooters along, little thrill-seekers will enjoy Railside Park’s pump track and skate park, where they can test their skills and enjoy plenty of outdoor fun.
Whether you’re a seasoned skater practicing tricks or trying out the pump track for the first time, these adrenaline-pumping amenities add an extra layer of excitement to this park.
Explore Railside Park further, you’ll discover the Noongar six seasons garden, that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the region. Take a stroll through the gardens, learning about the traditional Noongar calendar and the significance of each season.
Railside Park’s amenities ensure that visitors can relax and enjoy their time in comfort and convenience. Shade structures provide respite from the sun, while electric BBQs and benches offer the perfect spot for a snack. There’s water fountains and a nearby toilet block too.
My tip – if you don’t have a picnic, head to Pinjarra Bakery (in Waroona), just down the road to grab pies, good coffee, and fresh cakes. With its handy location just a stone’s throw away from Railside Park, opposite Waroona Visitor Centre, the bakery is great for a fuss free bite to eat.
If you’re stopping by for a quick play break on your road trip, Railside Park is a great place to stop in Waroona.
