Neon Park in the Allara Estate at Eglinton is a gorgeous community park, blending imaginative play with a strong connection to local nature and wildlife. Set along Neon Lane, this unfenced neighbourhood park is inspired by the striking colours and patterns of the Australian Black Cockatoo, and you can see that theme carried through the landscaping, artful details and playful design of the space.

The first thing kids tend to spot is the large eggโshaped play structure. Itโs a real standout, and for many children it quickly becomes the hero of the park. Kids can climb inside, explore, and slide down on their bellies, turning it into a nest, a spaceship, or whatever their imaginations dream up.

Around it are wooden balance beams that are perfect for mini challenges and family competitions โ a simple but fun way for parents to get involved in play, too.

Youโll also find a good mix of traditional and natureโinspired equipment. The Playground includes a flying fox, swing sets and other climbing and play elements designed to encourage imaginative, active play.

Younger children will love the sandy play areas, ideal for digging, building and sensory play โ a particularly nice spot for babies and toddlers to potter while older siblings explore the bigger equipment.

One of the lovely things about Neon Park is how it invites families to slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings. Winding pathways meander through native planting, creating pockets of shade and colour and making it feel like youโre wandering through a landscaped bush garden rather than a typical suburban Playground. The design celebrates the local black cockatoos and other wildlife, helping kids connect with nature while they play.

The park has been created as a space not just to play, but to gather. There are public BBQs and picnicโfriendly spaces, making it a great option for casual weekend picnic, small birthday celebrations or an easy afterโschool dinner outdoors. Pack a picnic rug, some snags and let the kids burn off energy on the flying fox and swings while you prepare food nearby.

At the moment the park still feels relatively peaceful, as many of the surrounding homes are still under construction. This means itโs often quieter than more established Playgrounds, with street parking available nearby on Neon Lane. The tradeโoff is that shade is still establishing, so itโs wise to visit in the cooler parts of the day and come prepared with hats, sunscreen and water. As the young trees grow, the park will only become more comfortable and inviting.
Neon Park is not fenced, so itโs best suited to children who can listen well and for families prepared to keep a close eye on little wanderers. The open design does, however, give the park a lovely spacious feel and makes it easy to keep an overview of where everyone is playing. Itโs an especially fun โbringโbothโparentsโ park โ the sort of place where one adult can join in on the flying fox and balancing beams while the other relaxes with the baby in the sand or on a picnic rug.
Set within the growing Allara community, Neon Park is a thoughtful blend of art, nature and play. With its native landscaping, creative play features, flying fox and swings, and BBQ facilities, itโs a welcoming neighbourhood hub where families can connect, explore and create special memories together.
