Tucked away in Trinity Estate, Alkimos, Fontana Park is a compact yet exciting neighbourhood Playground that’s perfect for a quick play or a relaxed picnic stop. It has a modern coastal feel and rewards families who seek it out with a mix of fun equipment and lovely views from the higher level of the park.
The standout feature is the big log swing, which is wide enough for multiple kids to share and tends to be the first thing they run to.
Nearby, a rock climbing wall leads adventurous kids up to an impressive slide. The slide is fast and thrilling without being overwhelming for most school-aged children, and shade sails overhead are a welcome bonus on sunny days. Many kids will happily spend ages climbing up and racing each other down.
You’ll also find a seesaw and plenty of natural play elements woven throughout the space. Logs and rocks create informal balance challenges and little “obstacle courses”, great for imaginative games and building confidence in younger children.
The ground surfaces are designed to be family-friendly, and the overall layout means it’s easy to keep an eye on kids while they move between the different play areas.
For families wanting to linger, there’s a small but pleasant grassed area that works well for picnics or a quick snack break. A shaded picnic shelter with two tables, a barbecue and a drinking fountain makes it simple to throw together a casual family dinner or weekend lunch at the park. A looping footpath around the space is perfect for scooters and bikes, giving kids a bit more to do once they’re finished with the play equipment.
If you follow the path up to the top of the park, you’ll reach more shaded seating and a beautiful view out towards the ocean – a lovely spot to sit with a coffee while the kids explore. The park’s location just off Marmion Avenue, on Fontana Loop, makes it easy to swing by if you’re in the Alkimos / northern suburbs area.
Do note that there are no toilet facilities at Fontana Park, so it’s best to plan ahead, especially if you’re visiting with younger children or staying for longer.
Overall, Fontana Park is a great little local Playground: fun, easy to supervise and with just enough variety to keep kids entertained for an hour or more, all wrapped up with those gorgeous coastal views.
