Adachi Park just off Great Eastern Hwy in Belmont has recently had an upgrade to the play equipment. You might know the park for the little brick house that is located there and can be seen from the highway. We recently stopped by for a play and a wander along the river walking paths. We found this a great little spot with parking, toilets, bbq facilities and covered picnic tables as well as the playground equipment and walkways.
The playground is quite small with cubby house and a climbing structure with two slides, seesaw and a birds nest swing. The equipment is on a wood chip base. The favourite for our daughter was all the climbing activities.
The larger slide is only accessible by climbing up the rope or climbing wall and going across the top netting (or crawling up the inside). There is a little ledge at the top of the slide that the kids can sit on. Also on this side of the play structure is monkey bars, rope spider nest and some balancing activities.
The other end of the structure is more suitable for younger children with a small cubby house and a small slide. The cubby house can be accessed by two smaller climbing walls or the stairs. There is plenty of room under here to play as well. There is also a firemanโs pole from the cubby house. Off to one side, there is a see-saw and on the other is the birds nest swing.
There are a couple of picnic tables around the playground where you can sit and supervise. One a little further away is covered and there is also a bbq in the area. Another bbq and undercover picnic area are located near the carpark. The toilets are also located near the car park.
There is plenty of grassy area around Adachi Park and a walkway running right past. One word of warning; the river is located on the other side of the walkway so keep an eye if you have little ones who like to run or explore.
After our daughter had finished playing we went for a wander along the path towards the Japanese Gardens. There are little paths off the main path that lead to stepping stones, boardwalks through the vegetation or the large gazebo.
We continued on a bit further and took the path down to the jetty and watched a couple of fishermen for a while. Next time we will make sure we have the scooter or bike in the car.
