If you’re after a laid-back, family-friendly spot to enjoy lunch with sweeping ocean views, The Endeavour Tavern in Lancelin is well worth the 1.5-hour drive north of Perth. Located at 58 Gingin Road, this beachside bar and bistro sits proudly on the edge of the Indian Ocean, with uninterrupted views of Lancelin Island and plenty of boats bobbing in the bay—a truly peaceful and picturesque setting.
From the moment you arrive, the experience is stress-free: there’s ample parking right outside, and families with prams or mobility needs can access the venue either via the stairs at the front or a gentle ramp around the back leading straight into the lush, ocean-facing beer garden.
While there’s no formal playground, the vast grassy hill offers more than enough space for kids to play freely—just bring along a picnic blanket and let them roll, run, and explore. The grassy slope eventually meets the beach, but there’s enough space in between that you won’t need to worry about runaway toddlers heading straight for the waves. For a bit of creative fun, chalkboards and chalk are also available.
Inside, the space is airy and welcoming, with seating options both indoors and out. Whether you’re watching the game on big screen TVs, enjoying live Foxtel, or just relaxing with a cold tap beer or cocktail, the vibe is casual and accommodating. The venue is pet-friendly too (dogs on leads welcome), and baby-changing facilities are available, making it convenient for families with younger children.
Food-wise, the menu offers something for everyone—from classic fish and chips and hearty chicken parmigiana to wood-fired pizzas, which were a hit with our kids.
We didn’t order from the kids’ menu this time, but the “Little Pirate” meals come with a juice box, and ice cream is available as an optional extra. There are also plenty of sweet treats and quality coffee on offer for parents looking for a pick-me-up.
Despite being busy during our visit, the service was friendly and fast—our meals arrived quickly, and the staff handled the lunchtime rush with ease. It’s clear this spot is a local favourite, and it’s easy to see why.
Whether you’re wrapping up a day trip to the Pinnacles or just looking to escape the city, the Endeavour Tavern is the perfect place to unwind with good food, cold drinks, and wide-open space for the kids to roam safely. And if you’re lucky enough to visit at sunset, you’ll be treated to one of the best ocean views WA has to offer—no booking required.
