Well, the kookaburra’s well and truly flown the coop — and it’s landed in style at Kookaburra Park, Elavale’s brand new community playground gem, just 37 minutes north of Perth! Nestled in the heart of a fast-growing suburb still under heavy construction, this colourful play haven feels like it swooped in out of nowhere and said, “Let’s play!”
At the one end is a massive climbing structure that dares little adventurers to reach the top — it’s all ropes, courage, and determination up there! The two epic tube slides reward the brave with a wild ride back down.
Semi-shaded with netting and bursting with vibrant colours, it’s hard to miss and harder to resist. Surrounding it? Sand pits, a spinning seat, balancing logs, stepping stumps, and a clever interactive fence for some ball games and climbing challenges.
Surrounding it, there’s a full-on race track with podium and themed hurdles for over-and-under action, and just when you think the fun’s done — a shaded three-seater swing set and a cyclone spinner crank the dizzy joy up a notch.
For the bigger kids (and the kids-at-heart), the parkour poles and jump boxes offer a Ninja Warrior-style test zone.
Down in the natural dip, there’s a huge grassy field ideal for cricket, dog zoomies, barefoot sprints, and good old-fashioned hill rolling.
The tranquil court offers a basketball hoop, squash-style hitting wall, and a funky multi-hoop stand for sporty fun, along with other ball throwing challenges.
No toilets, but there are undercover tables, BBQs, benches, a water fountain , and a ping pong table. Parking is mostly street-side but easy to find.
Let the laughter echo like a kookaburra in an old gum tree — Elavale’s got itself a winner!
Kookaburra Park can be found at Kookaburra Street, Elginton
